Privacy Policy
Last updated 22 August 2026. Pairlooms is a private space for two people. This describes exactly what is stored, who can read it, and what is never done with it.
The short version. Your answers are readable by you and your partner and by nobody else. They are never used to train models, never sent to analytics, and never sold or shared. Location and photos are optional and off unless you turn them on.
Your answers to the daily ritual
- Who can read them: you and your active partner only. This is enforced by database row-level security policies, not by what the app chooses to display.
- Before you have both answered: only you. Your partner's answer is withheld by the server, not merely hidden by the screen.
- Used to train models: never.
- Sent to analytics: never. The analytics event format has no free-form text field, so answer text cannot reach it even by mistake.
- Sold or shared: never.
What is collected
- Account. Your email address, held by our identity provider (Clerk) so you can sign in.
- Profile. Display name, language and timezone. Your partner sees your name; language and timezone are used to schedule when your daily question arrives.
- Photo and birthday. Optional. Skip either and the app works identically.
- Age bracket. Required, to confirm you are 18 or over — the highest question intensity is explicit. Never shown to your partner.
- Gender. Optional. Supplies pronouns so the app can write "her" rather than "their". Left unset, it uses they/them.
- Location. Optional and mutual. Stored only while both of you have distance sharing switched on, including in the background if you allow it. Switching it off deletes the stored coordinates immediately — it does not merely stop updating them.
- Shared photos. Optional. Stored in a private bucket readable only by your couple. Photos are re-encoded on upload, which removes embedded EXIF metadata from the stored file. If "Remember where photos were taken" is on in Settings, the location is read from the photo and stored as ordinary data visible only to the two of you; with it off, the location is discarded on your device before upload and never reaches us.
- Usage events. Counts only — which screens are used and which features are opened. Never what you wrote.
- Crash reports. Diagnostic traces with no message content. Screenshots and session replay are switched off.
Who processes it
- Clerk — authentication and your email address.
- Supabase — the database and file storage that hold your content.
- Expo push service and Apple — delivering notifications. Notification previews deliberately never contain message or answer text: a chat notification shows only who sent it.
- RevenueCat and the App Store — subscription status. We never see your payment details.
- PostHog — product analytics, counts only, with IP geolocation disabled.
- Sentry — crash diagnostics, when enabled on a build.
Your control
- Delete your account from Settings → Sign-in & security → Delete account. Deletion is immediate: there is no waiting period and nothing left for us to action later.
- Disconnect from your partner at any time from Settings, without deleting your account.
- Shared history. When you disconnect we keep each person's own ritual history privately for them rather than deleting it, because it belongs to both of you. If you both want it erased, email us and we will remove it for the two of you together.
- Turn things off. Location, photo location, notifications and optional profile fields are each individually switchable in Settings.
Children
Pairlooms is for adults. The app includes an explicit content tier and is not available to anyone under 18.
